Protechting is a dynamic open innovation program jointly led by Fosun, Fidelidade, Hospital da Luz Learning Health, and powered by Fábrica de Startups. This transformative initiative is specifically tailored to foster innovation for healthtech and insurtech. By connecting exceptional startups with its partners, Protechting creates unparalleled opportunities for collaboration and growth.

- Opportunity to co-develop funded pilot projects along with partners from all over the world. - Opportunity to attend Web Summit 2023 in Lisbon, including a booth at our startup island and individual pitch practice to ensure you take full advantage of the event. - A program focused on pilot development, access to funding, product development, sales and marketing, amongst others. - Access to international players in Insurance and Health. - Access to the program partners’ different geographies. - Networking and partnerships with the program’s selected partners. - Feedback and mentorship from experts in the program’s areas of focus.

We’re looking for startups that have at least an MVP, ready to proof of concept.

Protechting’s official language is English. This is an international program, with international partners and looking for worldwide startups.

Protechting 6.0 will be hybrid. Until the end of October 2023 all the program will be held online. After the "Online Pitch", there will be a selection of the Top 8 Startups that will attend Web Summit in November. After Web Summit, startups may meet in-person with project teams.

We encourage that a team participates with a minimum of 2 (two) and a maximum of 4 (four) elements.

Protechting is a pilot-focused program that aims to foster collaboration between startups and corporates, therefore no equity is taken.

The selection process, led by Fábrica de Startups in collaboration with a jury comprising our partners, is designed to meticulously assess various aspects of your application. A team of evaluators will be focusing on your product, team, market, business model and fit with each partner. Each track of Protechting assumes a Sustainability mindset, that is present throughout the whole program. Although not mandatory, a sustainability approach could give your application a boost while being evaluated.

Once your startup successfully completes the initial online application process, a pre-selected group of startups will have the opportunity to participate in the Online Pitch. The startups with better performance at the online pitch and that shows more alignment with the purpose of the program will be invited to join the intensive Bootcamp, where their potential for partnership alignment will be further evaluated. Finally, the startups that exhibit the strongest fit with our partners will move to the Piloting Phase.

Yes, definitely. You can apply with as many projects as you believe would fit and benefit from the program. Each startup will require its own application.

Yes, indeed. You can apply to both the Insurtech and Healthtech tracks.

The program is free of charge for the startup participants.. There are no costs associated with participating in this program. There is also no equity taken.

A: Accommodation is not included, but we can assist you in finding suitable housing in Lisbon.

A: Yes, we welcome and encourage applications from startups worldwide.

A: Our mentors are experienced professionals from the insurance and healthcare industries, as well as successful entrepreneurs, investors, and subject matter experts. They will provide guidance, insights, and feedback to help you refine your business model, develop your product, and grow your startup.

A: The program begins on 20th September 2023. The application deadline is 8th September 11:59pm (CET Time). We encourage you to apply early, as spots are limited.
